Restaurant Moon is a Thai-European Eatery where Thai cuisine meets European Gastronomy. We had a very pleasant gastronomic journey enjoying the exquisite degustation menu by the Chef who embodied his wild imagination and his respect for traditional Thai cuisine. All dishes were carefully curated, with a tactic harmonious balance of European sophistication and Thai culinary brilliance. I will definitely return next time I am in Sydney :)
Food wise Iโd rate the degustation course a 5 starโญ๏ธ The degustation was genuinely unique (the candle was actually liver pate!๐คฃ), thoughtfully paced, and a degustation where you actually leave full and satisfied, not Googling the nearest Maccas on the way home. Iโd definitely recommend to try this place. Iโd say the price is worth it for special occasion dates
This place pulls a few surprises (all good) in terms of their food offerings. We were invited by friends for a degustation style Thai meal & pleasantly surprised by the way the chefโs creative ways in pairing his food with both Thai & European style flavours & methods of cooking. Usually shying away from โfusionโ style cooking - we were actually blown away by the food. The 7 course degustation was generous & the combinations, sequence & variety were carefully curated showing off the chefโs(Ohm) expertise. The result was a surprising mix of flavours, textures & tastes - all senses come into play & an overall excellent experience. Dessert was lovely but only wished they made it in individual portions instead of making people share a large portion. No one want to share dessert! The ambience was OK - a small restaurant (perhaps a maximum seating of 30?), it was fully booked out & despite the relative closeness of the tables, it felt OK & the staff weaved through the tables, serving & explaining with ease. The cocktail menu is varied & interesting. The owner Jackie is charming & runs a well oiled operation with drinks & food coming at a good pace. A great night out - we enjoyed the food very much but donโt come expecting a typical Thai meal but be pleasantly surprised by the Chef Ohmโs creativeness & unique interpretations. Highly recommend & reservations necessary.
The waiters and waitresses were attentive and patiently explained the details of the courses. The food was as amazing. Unique cocktails and dishes! Especially the dessert flavours of the winter forest! The additional ox Soup and king Prawn! Flavours for both.
