I had a wonderful experience at Moon and Mary. The food was excellent, the drinks were great, and the customer service was warm and attentive. Every dish we tried was delicious, especially the beef tartare and the eggplant, which really stood out. I would happily come back and highly recommend this restaurant. Coming from a heritage of good Malaysian food home cooks and secret recipes handed down from generation to generation, I must admit, my palate has been spoilt and I am excessively fussy when it comes to eating out. I've always raised an eyebrow at Fusion Asian food. Because the ones I've tried while traversing the globe, always left me with an aftertaste of poor imitations of true Asian flavour, and the impression that the chefs were hiding behind fusion as an excuse to mask their lack of skill and understanding of Asian cuisine. Then today, after a wander at the Fremantle Makers Bazaar, I decide to pop into Moon and Mary. Right across the street from Freo Market, it was the obvious choice for a late lunch on a lazy Saturday arvo. The attentive and welcoming staff made us feel right at home from their first "Welcome to Moon and Mary!" The decor is simple, unpretentious, yet chic and upmarket and strangely homely. We ordered the Malaysian coconut lamb curry and the miso eggplant. My scepticism laced with culinary arrogance was slapped down and humbled. On first inspection, the Miso eggplant drizzled with pmogranate seeds made no sense to me. But the burst of flavour at first bite was captivating. And I could not wait to get the 2nd slice off the plate. I had to fight my dining partner for it. Then the lamb. I can't even find the words. The explosion of smooth coconut curry with just the right amount of heat that allowed my tongue the opportunity to luxuriate on the layers of flavour was absolutely mind blowing. Paired with white rice, the melt off the bone, flavourful lamb cooked through and slathered with the delicate yet decadent curry gravy, was a match made in heaven. So delicious it was, that we cleaned it down to the bone. We also ordered some stir fried vegetables that were perfectly blanched combination of snake beans, asparagus , snow peas and book choi. Finished crunchy and drizzled with a blended soya sauce and fried shallots that I reckon some Chinese restaurants chefs should benchmark against. There are few meals that impress. This one goes beyond that. It satisfies. To say the kitchen cooks with care might be an understatement. Because with each bite, as the flavours dance on the tongue and I revel in surprise after surprise at the burst of flavour, I know the chefs cooks to delight. I always say, a good restaurant is one where you'll not only invite your friends and business partners to, but one where you'll bring your future mother-in-law to. I'm coming back here and bringing everyone with me.

Incredible space with different break out spaces catering to a wide range of functions. The food was amazing, and great portions, would definitely come back here again and recommend to others! Foods great and awesome staff. The Soft Shell Crab was the winner on the night, but check out this cool wine list! Nice to see a good range of wines by the glass as well. Give the house vodka and Gin a look too, well done.

This was my second time dining at Moon & Mary, and once again it was such a great experience. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The cocktails were not only tasty but also stunning, almost too pretty to drink! The service really stood out as well, the staff were friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. I was just as impressed on my first visit, so it’s great to see that the quality and consistency are still there. Moon & Mary has definitely become one of my favourite spots in Fremantle, perfect for a night out with friends and family. Highly recommend!
