I love this place since I started going there when I was studying at UOW, it was accross the road from where it is now. Same menu for the last 30 years!, maybe more :). The taste is still amazing and never had a bad experience there. Quick service, lovely staff. I HIGHLY recommend!

I walked by last night after dinner elsewhere and saw a lot of people inside this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try tonight. I ordered a Hainanese chicken rice plate ($15.90) and an order of Chinese kale ($13.90). Unlike other restaurants where I had my lunch dinner, this place does not give you any water unless you ask for it. The Chinese kale was a bit overcooked for my taste but it would have been perfectly tender for my elderly parents who don’t have a lot of teeth anymore. It was probably cooked in a pot of water and was served with oyster sauce. I wonder if I could have asked them to sautéed it with garlic and oil instead? Maybe that would have been better although this way would be a healthier way to eat it. The chicken for the Hainanese chicken was too meaty for me. It is definitely not free range chicken since it was very meaty but had no taste. The soup that came with it was too salty for my taste so I did not touch it anymore after 1 sip.

So. I've been coming to this restaurant for over 30 years, but I haven't been living in Wollongong for a while. So I was really disappointed at the offerings of this place. There used to be a lineup to get in back in the day. The floor staff were dysfunctional and unorganised, Had to ask twice for a pot of tea. The meal condiments never arrived and while paying the bill enquired, and was told " I forgot." It's almost like it happens often. The meals looked similar to previous, but the flavour was missing. The noodles were way too oily, and the laksa soup tasted like watery dish washing water. Yep. Disappointed.

Food was okay, we tried Food World Special noodle soup and combination laksa. They were average but okay to enjoy. The broth was great, noodle was a little bit thin and not chewy enough. I wish the BBQ pork in the Food World noodle soup was more flavourful. In overall, okay to stop by. They have many options.

This place is a constant for us. They are consistent on every level. The majority of the staff are very friendly, and we have never had a bad meal. The menu is vast, and caters for all tastes. The restaurant is clean and bright and the meals are very cheap. Keep up the great work, and thank you. Happy eating!!!!
