I visited this restaurant with my coworkers 6 months ago and it was mostly a pleasant experience. Food was delicious, portion sizes were satisfactory. So today I was going to book a table for my friends gathering but this second experience was not a great one. When I called to make a booking for a table, the guy picked up the phone told me he couldn’t hear my voice because my reception was bad and asked me to hang up and call again…. I was calling from a very quiet outside place and apparently their side was very noisy with people talking background etc. It sounded already rude but anyway I asked him again to check availability for lunch tomorrow but he didn’t want to talk with me and then passed the phone to another lady. She was nice and I was able to request a booking smoothly. However, I got to be very surprised to see their booking confirmation text which requested my credit card details to hold(that’s okay) and stated that we will be charged $55 PER/PERSON for no-show/cancellation or even possibly for changing the booking schedule. I have visited quite a few restaurants in city including fancy ones but I have never been charged that expensive cancellation/change fees. It’s not $55 per table, per person! So for 6 people is astonishing $330! We wouldn’t even order $55 per person for a casual lunch with my coworkers or friends. I had to cancel the booking as we cannot risk it as some of our members have children so things may need to change. It is really a pity as I feel this is a loss of business opportunity for the restaurant. I was thinking to use this restaurant for another party but I won’t use it as it’s too risky and inflexible. We called another Thai restaurant and smoothly booked for a table.

A great casual dining place with wonderful food. The flavors of their dishes are delightful—more refined and enhanced than typical authentic Thai food. Each bite feels well-balanced, almost like the flavours circling to fit with flavour profiles in your mouth. It’s clear they care about the quality of their food. The atmosphere is beautiful, clean, and cozy—an excellent spot for a date. Service was generally good; however, there’s room for improvement. For example, checking in during the meal rather than at the end would make guests feel more cared for. (Maybe it’s what I preferred to have in my dining experience)Also, the front-of-house staffing seemed a little short-handed. Overall, the experience was fantastic. This place has definitely become one of my new go-to spots without a doubt.

Boonchoou is a Thai restaurant with a more market-style, open kitchen setup, which you do not usually see at your standard Thai place. It reminded me a bit of bar-style open kitchen dining, and the food was very tasty, almost too tasty at times. Some dishes were quite overpowering, which I later found out was from the fish sauce. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavour. My favourite was the red duck curry. The curry sauce was excellent, and the duck was tender and cooked as well as you would expect. The green curry was also decent, but the red curry was definitely the standout for me. The pad kra pao was a bit different from the usual versions but still very tasty and quite salty, so it definitely needed rice alongside it. The tom yum soup was as good as you get, very solid and well balanced. For entrees, the pork belly was really good. The salad was okay but very strong in flavour, a bit too intense for my liking. The calamari was not for me, mainly due to the texture and flavour, but I can see how others would enjoy it. The pad thai was slightly on the sweet side, but the noodles were well cooked and the ingredients were solid. Overall, a bold and flavour-packed Thai spot with some standout dishes, especially the red duck curry.

Slightly more elevated than the usual casual and bustling Thai restaurants in Melbourne. The food is cooked very well with delightful textures and punchy flavours. Dishes are reasonably priced. Those servings are slightly on the smaller side. Each dish is very well cooked and not rushed at all. The service was also attentive and restaurant was lovely. Mango sticky rice was the most authentic I had in Melbourne so far outside of Thailand.

First time here at this new restaurant and it was very impressive. All the dishes were made with very high quality ingredients and the flavours were sensational. The red duck curry was especially good, however I would like to see a large serve option, as the dish was entree size. They also have some great quality wines to choose, which is a refreshing change from most Thai restaurants. The service was on point and attentive, making for a great experience. I would recommend you book as there was many people queuing outside. This is a must go restaurant, if you enjoy quality Thai food.
