Iโ€™ve been to Thailand many times, and I was genuinely impressed by the food here ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ The flavours felt really authentic, and you can tell the dishes are made by people who truly understand Thai food. Everything we tried was full of flavour and well balanced โ€” nothing felt too heavy or overpowering. We ordered a mix of classic dishes, including pad ka-na with crispy pork, pad thai, pad see ew, and a chicken red curry. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the pork was moist and flavourful, and the curry was creamy with a nice depth and gentle sweetness. Every dish was easy to enjoy and very satisfying. The drinks were great too. The Thai milk tea had the perfect level of sweetness and was so smooth and easy to drink. Lemon lime bitters is actually my all-time favourite drink, so Iโ€™m usually quite picky, but this one had an excellent balance of sweetness and freshness and was really well made. The restaurant itself has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, making it a great spot for a relaxed meals. Definitely a hidden gem in Port Melbourne, especially if youโ€™re looking for authentic Thai flavours. Would happily come back again ๐Ÿ˜Šโœจ

Real Thai flavours cooked by a Thai couple who know exactly how itโ€™s meant to taste. Five minutes from Port Melbourne Beach. Low-key location, big flavours. The kind of place you almost want to gatekeep. Cozy interiors, warm lighting, relaxed vibes. The sort of spot where you settle in, order too much, and stay longer than planned. From rich, fragrant curries to wok-tossed classics, spicy stir-fries, and comfort dishes you donโ€™t see everywhere. Itโ€™s a full tour of Thailand, right here in Melbourne. Perfect for date nights, family dinners, or a โ€œletโ€™s try somewhere newโ€ moment. Trust us, this oneโ€™s worth the save.

Absolutely loved our experience at Amphawa Cafe & Thai Restaurant. You can really feel the passion behind the food - itโ€™s run by a Thai couple who clearly care about authenticity and flavour. We tried the Pad Cashew Nut Pork, which was rich and comforting, the King Prawn Pad Thai that was perfectly balanced, steamed Thai calamari with spicy lemon sauce that was fresh and flavourful, and the Duck Red Curry which was creamy and full of depth. To finish, the mango sticky rice was creamy and classic, and the banana fritter with coconut ice cream was warm, crispy, and indulgent. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for date nights, family dinners, or a relaxed meal with friends. Highly recommend if youโ€™re looking for authentic Thai food in Melbourne - especially being so close to Port Melbourne Beach. Will definitely be back!

Weโ€™ve dined at several Thai restaurants in Melbourne but this is by far the best weโ€™ve been. All dishes, from savoury ones to desserts, we ordered were satisfactorily enjoyed. Their savoury food are wonderfully seasoned with just the right amount of salt, as we prefer less salt in our food. We also realized that they are a Thai family run business. The small team there is very friendly. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Amphawa is a family run Thai restaurant located on Bay Street in Port Melbourne. It is named after the owners hometown, one of the smallest and most beautiful cities in Thailand ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ The chef has been cooking Thai food his entire life, learning from his mum and cooking every dish with love. You can taste the difference, everything feels authentic, homely and full of flavour. ๐Ÿ’› They also do lunch specials for $15.90 which is incredible value for the quality and portions! โœ”๏ธ Pork Toast - crunchy, savoury and moreishโ€จโœ”๏ธ Thai Dim Sims - juicyโ€จโญ๏ธ Chicken Curry (lunch special) - next level crispy chicken with the perfect green curryโ€จโœ”๏ธ Pad Thai King Prawnโ€จโœ”๏ธ Black Pepper Fishโ€จโญ๏ธ Khao Soi Slow Cooked Beef - I would come back just for this!โ€จโญ๏ธ Pad Kha Na Crispy Porkโ€จโญ๏ธ Steamed Thai Calamari, Lemon Spicy Sauce - spicy and fresh!โ€จโœ”๏ธ Roti Bread, Peanut Sauce - a little oily โ€จโญ๏ธ Glutinous Rice Balls - soft, warm, added texture from the coconut, subtly sweet and comforting. A suprise favourite!โ€จโœ”๏ธ Banana Fritters - crisp outside, sweet, ripe banana inside!โ€จโž– Coconut Smoothie - coconut flavour could be strongerโ€จโœ”๏ธ Thai Milk Tea Definitely has placed itself as one of my favourite spots in Melbourne for Thai food. Although on a Tuesday night they had no bookings, by 6pm the place was already completely full with walk ins - the locals clearly know itโ€™s good! Every dish was generous and cooked with heart. What more could you want?
